The symbol τ was used in mathematics to represent the golden ratio until the Greek letter Phi (Φ) gained prominance (after the first letter of Phidias, acclaimed sculptor of the Parthenon).

Tau is also known as the symbol representing the ratio of any circle’s circumference to its radius (equal to 2π).

Advocates for τ argue that radius is more fundamental to circles than diameter, and therefore, that τ (circumference divided by radius) is more fundamental than π (circumference divided by diameter). They think this makes formulas written in terms of τ express the mathematics more clearly than with π. -Source

Using τ instead of 2π makes a lot of sense to me:

• A circle is defined as all points in a plane a certain radius away from a center point.
• The unit circle has a radius of 1, not a diameter of 1.
• Angles measured in radians make more sense using τ rather than 2π because τ radians measures a full circle, so 1/4 circle is τ/4, 1/2 circle is τ/2 and so on.

However using τ is really a moot point because π already won the mindshare. However I find it interesting that Tau has been used to represent both the golden ratio (Φ) and the relationship of a circle to its radius (more commonly known as π).

I can think of one other symbol that encodes in its proportions both mathematical ideas: the Great Pyramid. Note that the proportions 4:π and Φ:1 are not taken at the same time but I’ve shown them together for simplicity, so read the left and right halves of the diagram separately.

Crowley used an inverted Tau on the cover of his book Magick, which was “regarded in serious occult circles as a book of ultimate authority on sexual magic.” -Source

Seen right-side-up, the T is seen as the shape of the cross on which Jesus was crucified.

The TAU cross is preserved to modern Masonry under the symbol of the T square. This appears to be the oldest form of the cross extant.” -The Secret Teachings of All Ages by Manly Hall

There are several instances in the Bible of the Tau cross anticipating the Latin cross:

• The angel of death passed over the children of Israel who painted the Tau mark in goat’s or sheep’s blood above their doors to slay all Egyptian firstborn. This is better known as Passover. See Exodus 11:1 in the Brick Testament.
• The Tau mark was placed upon the foreheads of particular men to save them from being slain in yet another genocidal bloodbath depicted in Ezekiel 9 (unforunately this isn’t illustrated in Lego).
• The summit of Mt. Nebo in Jordan is the location of the Brazen Serpent Monument, featuring a snake wrapped around a Tau cross.

Mt. Nebo is where Moses saw the promised land of Israel (but wasn’t allowed to go there himself). You can see Jerusalem on a clear day from this monument.

Pope Benedict XVI visited the site on May 9, 2009, gave a speech, and looked out from the top of the mountain in the direction of Jerusalem. -Source

The fiery serpent comes from the Bible (Numbers 21:5-9):

• “And the people spake against God, and against Moses, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? for there is no bread, neither is there any water; and our soul loatheth this light bread.
• And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
• Therefore the people came to Moses, and said, We have sinned, for we have spoken against the LORD, and against thee; pray unto the LORD, that he take away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people.
• And the LORD said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live.
• And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.”

Check out this version illustrated with Lego. I like the Brick Testament because it consistently shows the character of this God. In this case God kills his chosen people with snakes because they complained about being hungry and thirsty. It’s easy to forget that and recall only that he healed those who didn’t complain with the Nehushtan as it is also known.

The 25th degree in Scottish Freemasonry is called is The Knight of the Brazen Serpent.

The above image reminds one of the Rod of Asclepius. Here it is as the Star of Life, logo of the emergency medical services worldwide.

Also the emblem of the World Heath Organization underlines the fact that it is a specialized agency of the United Nations with its 33 sector grid laid over the world.

The symbol of a serpent climbing the pole is also a symbol of Kundalini, or life force rising up the spinal column.

These symbols all came from the Crux Ansata, better known as the Ankh. Think of it as a yoni on top of a lingam, or vesica piscis on top of a tau if you will. What better way to symbolize life then through sexual union? This has been pushed into the shadow in the last two thousand years in the West.

Thanks to reader Rick for pointing out that the Hindu Ardhanari is a composite androgynous form of the Hindu god Shiva and his consort Parvati: half male and half female, split down the middle. Note the Ankh is used here as a depiction of both male and female genitalia.

The Hindu androgyne reminds me of Baphomet whom the Templars revealed they worshipped under torture by the French Catholics in 1307.

Often mistaken for Satan, Baphomet represents the duality of male and female, as well as Heaven and Hell or night and day signified by the raising of one arm and the downward gesture of the other. -Source

Andre van Lysebeth shows in Tantra that the Om glyph actually represents the sexual act (female on the left and male on the right in this case) with what looks to me like the sun and moon in the upper right:

The Ankh is similar to the concept of the Tao in Chinese philosophy and religion. Opposites coming together form a dynamic balance.

I had always associated synchronicity with Carl Jung but recently rereading Lama Anagarika Govinda’s The Inner Structure of the I Ching I was reminded that as a mode of thinking it is profoundly Chinese. Govinda writes: “All our reasoning is based on the law of cause and effect operating as a sequence. The Chinese do not reason so much along this horizontal line from past, through present to future; they reason perpendicularly, from what is in one place now to what is in another place now. In other words, they do not ask why, or from what past causes, a certain set of things is happening now; they ask, ‘What is the meaning of these things happening at this moment?’ The word Tao is the answer to this question. The present situation within and around oneself is Tao, for the present moment is life. Our memory of the past is contained in it as well as the potentiality for the future.”

Squaring the circle also comes to mind as a larger resolution of opposites, in the case of heaven and earth.

Slight dyslexia is all you need to get from Angels to Angles. In many areas of mathematics angles are measured in radians rather than degrees. One radian is equal to about 57 degrees (57.2957795…).

360 degrees = 2π or 6.283185… radians. An angle of 1 radian results in an arc with a length equal to the radius of the circle.

Tau is the 19th letter of the Greek alphabet. Three Taus therefore have a value of 3 x 19 = 57.

Triple Tau is an important Masonic symbol.

“This emblem, placed in the center of a Triangle and Circle – both emblems of Deity – constitutes the jewel of the Royal Arch as practiced in England, where it is so highly esteemed as to be called the “emblem of all emblems,” and “the grand emblem of Royal Arch Masonry.” -Source

The Royal Arch Degree Jew-el has a Star of David composed of two interlocking triangles (male and female) and a triple Tau at the bottom. This reminds me of the phrase triple bottom line or Hermes Trismegistus.

This ancient Alchemical emblem found in the ruins of Pompei suggests that the Star of David is a metaphor for the sexual act, a fact covered up by the SATOR magic square (see Paternoster Squares).

Robert Fowler discovered a cipher in Shakespeare’s sonnets dedication poem that requires one understand the Royal Arch Degree jewel in order to decode it. It’s a fascinating intellectual journey that I won’t belabour in this post.

However I will mention the decoded message refers to eternal life and a diagram that appears to depict Orion, an obelisk, a pyramid, the Star of David, and rays of the Sun. It is becoming harder not to see that Francis Bacon was involved in writing the works of “William Shakespeare.”

The 33rd degree jewel depicts four Taus forming a Greek cross.

“The quadruple tau, moreover, being composed entirely of ‘right angles, horizontals, and perpendiculars,’ contains within itself all the secret signs of Freemasonry, a fact which I am not permitted to further explain. I’m not a mason but am bright enough to see at least on one level that the Quadruple Tau cross represents the great cross in the heavens as discussed in my Esoteric Astronomy video. The four beasts corresponding to the fixed signs in the aforementioned alchemical seal and Royal Arch degree jewel support this notion.

Here’s the Hindu version of the 33rd degree jewel: the Sri Yantra aka Sri Chakra. In addition to four taus, it features nine interlocking triangles, just as the 33rd degree jewel shows a nine pointed star and the brazen serpent jewel depicts a nine-pointed star.

That brings me to a couple of very interesting buildings I’ve become aware of that I think encode the Quadruple Tau symbol. First up is Terrace on the Park at 52-11 111th Street in Flushing Meadows Park, Queens, NY. Do you see the solar 52 weeks in a year encoded with all the ones? The building was contructed as a helipad for the 1964 World’s Fair, which I plan to post about another time. One can say it has a special connection with the sky.

Here is the official video about what goes on inside Terrace on the Park. Lots of people getting married inside Terrace on the Park seems quite appropriate symbolically.

Finally my thanks to Grant Chamberlin who discovered something very interesting about the CitiGroup Center (aka 601 Lexington Ave) in Manhattan.

The square base reminds me of the Quadruple Tau even though it is not highlighted as such.

Grant noticed that there are 32 full panels across the top of the T plus 2 half panels, making a total of 33 panels on each side. Just a coincidence or the Tao of the Tau?

On this particular trip in late November (11/11) I wanted to check up on the asterisk shaped barracks on Treasure Island to see if they’d been torn down and also to visit a number of sites I’d blogged about. I hope you enjoy the synchronicity of what I found.

My first stop was Treasure Island. Recall that I see the ancient Egyptian ennead encoded in the relationship between the angles of Columbus Ave, Mason Street (representing the street grid), the location of the Transamerica Pyramid, and the location, length, and orientation of Treasure Island as shown in my San Francisco video.

The derelict barracks are the two white asterisk shaped buildings at the midpoint of the Treasure Island edge of the nine-sided figure.

On my youtube channel, Andy Hill recently pointed out that the barracks have the same form as the asterisk (six pointed star) over the golden boy’s head atop the July Column in Paris.

I mentioned in my video that the hieroglyph of the risen Sun god Horus looks like an asterisk on a stick which is exactly what is on the genie of Paris’ head. Recall that Graham Hancock and Robert Bauval showed the word Paris comes from Pharia-Isis (in Talisman and The Master Game). Perhaps this golden boy represents Horus (Isis’ son) rather than Mercury as he is often thought of? Mercury often has winged boots or a winged helm rather than having wings himself.

I mentioned that Treasure Island’s 7 sides have Isis’ number. Here is another version:

I speculated that Treasure Island is tied to Isis and the Silver Gate or gate of birth (see my Esoteric Astronomy video) in an axis that passes over Alcatraz (representing the body as prison of the soul) and through the Golden Gate (gate of death) on the way to the Duat.  You won’t believe what is now located right in front of the barracks: a 40 foot tall statue of a beautiful dancing goddess. I think of it as a Statue of Liberty for the 21st century.

Look at how gigantic she is. See the humans by her foot (circled below)? She knocks the socks off the Colossus of Rhodes, wonder of the ancient world. To think that the Anunnaki might be this tall is awe inspiring.

This colossus is called Bliss Dance and is the creation of the artist Marco Cochrane. He has produced an amazing sculpture.

“Marco’s work, his philosophy, his whole purpose of being is to create a sculpture that reveals the core of the person in the moment. When he begins to work, revealing the shapes of the body in clay, you’d think that only the mechanics of their joints and muscles would emerge. Not so. He reveals gestures, tension and motion. The texture of the evolving sculpture reveals more and more of a core essence, the soul, and cradled in physical form. It feels like recognition.” -Ria Megnin

When I was standing there I started up a conversation with a guy who was also taking pictures. He tells me there is an iOS app that allows you to control the LED lights illuminating the statue both from outside and in. The sculpture is made of a metal armature covered by a stainless steel mesh skin. The surfaces can appear opaque or translucent under different lighting conditions, revealing a matrix of geodesics inside.

If the Transamerica Pyramid represents the obelisk (phallus) of Osiris as I claim in my SF video, then I can’t think of a more appropriate place for Isis to dance right across the water.

The site of the colossal Isis dancing in bliss is thrice great because of SOM’s 650′ Sun Tower that’s being planned for the site (to be completed circa 2022), which will replace the asterisk shaped barracks that occupied the same place where the tower from Expo ’37 was also located.

The two hangers and semicircular floatplane terminal on the right edge of Treasure island are the only structures from 1937 still extant as far as I can tell. I went looking for Marco Cochrane’s studio but found the doors locked to the hanger. He moved his studio into such a tall space because its one of the only places where he can build colossi (he is building an even larger one now). The only decoration on the exterior of the hanger is what appears to be Mercury (winged helm).

The other hanger has a sign displaying the rod of Asclepius (son of the sun god Apollo),  a blue asterisk, and wings in Angel Rescue Services which was apparently built for NBC’s Trauma (TV series 2009-2010). We have all been through a lot of trauma and the return of the divine feminine is something we all need in 2012.

Perhaps this angel’s features have an African quality? That would fit the black Isis story nicely.

Recall Our Lady of the Pillar at Chartres cathedral. Black madonna and child are positioned over the crypt which was a sanctuary of Isis long before the cathedral was built.

My next stop was Grace cathedral which has a labyrinth based on the one at Chartres.

There were a few surprises for me inside Grace cathedral. First of all by the entry there was an installation called Invisible Man by the artist Daniel Joshua Goldstein. The brochure about it says it would be there from Nov 16-Dec 4, 2011.

Here’s what the first paragraph on the sign says (shown on the right in the above image):

“Invisible Man is a suspended sculpture made of 864 syringes each tipped with a red crystal bead. The cloud of arrows surrounds a negative space that, as the work rotates, reveals a human figure. As someone who lived through AIDS in San Francisco, this is theme I call “the presence of absence.”

I was blown away reading that. Why does Goldstein tell us how many needles he used? And why did he choose exactly 864?

I’ve mentioned in my videos that the sun has a diameter of 864,000 miles, a mean solar day lasts 86,400 seconds, the distance from Stonehenge to Silbury Hill is 864,000 feet, the Place de la Concorde has an area 86,400 square meters, and the Transamerica Pyramid is 864 feet high including its crystal pyramidion tip.

The Invisible Man has a resonance with Osiris whether the artist is conscious of it or not. It has his solar number and fits right into the myth, Osiris being the invisible Lord of the Dead. This image depicts Osiris from the Egyptian Book of the Dead.

The white structure bears a resemblance to the Transamerica Pyramid. Incidentally my wife took this photo out of the sunroof of our car looking up at the Transamerica Pyramid. It is truly a pyramid when seen from this angle.

Next up in Grace cathedral is a giant metal inlay in the pavement at the center of the nave displaying the Chi Rho symbol.

Chi Rho is composed of the Greek letters chi (X) and rho (P), the first two letters in the name Christ (Greek: Χριστός).

Chi Rho was the symbol Constantine the Great saw in the sky just before the Battle of the Milvian Bridge in 312 CE. He ordered this sign put on his soldiers shields. They went on to win the battle just outside Rome resulting in Constantine becoming the sole ruler of the Roman empire. He then adopted Christianity as the official religion of the Roman Empire. Constantine used the motto In Hoc Signo Vinces which means In this sign you will conquer. Christianity became part of a plan to conquer the world.

The Jesuits use the letters IHS (in hoc signo) with a cross and nails inside a sun as their emblem.

The Knights Templar of the York Rite of freemasonry uses this emblem:

Don’t forget Windows XP. I still run XP in emulation on Parallels on my Mac only when I have to. Autodesk and Adobe still support XP. Even though Vista and 7 have come after, they haven’t conquered like Windows Chi Rho did.

On the right side of the entrance there is the AIDS interfaith memorial chapel, making the placement of the Invisible Man quite appropriate. Note the solar octagram star symbol on the pavement.

Next up in Grace cathedral is the glorification of the UN. There is a large mural in the nave depicting the UN which was of course chartered in San Francisco.

There is also a plaque on the left side of the entrance symbolically plaing the UN at the center of all world religions. Can you recognize some of the religious symbols? Creating a one world religion seems to be on the globalists agenda.

One religion, one government, one currency, one bank, one media, one army…one ring to rule them all, one ring to find them, one ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them.

The UN emblem divides (and conquers?) the world into 33 sectors. Among many other things, 33 is the highest degree in Scottish freemasonry.

Right across the street from Grace cathedral is 1111 California Street, better known as Masonic Auditorium. Here I am taking a photo on the street of what’s inside 1111 California (Boaz and Jachin) and you can see the steps to Grace cathedral reflected behind me across the street.

Here is a detail of the mural on the building exterior. The right obviously depicts a tug of war. The sphere in the center of the war has curved lines suggesting the lines of longitude of the Earth. The four men appear to have symbols of Army, Navy, Marines, and Air Force above them.

Dedicated to Our Masonic Brthren Who Died in the Cause of Freedom is a Remembrance Day message which is funny because 1111 California reminds one of the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. See my Repeating Ones post.

I find it interesting that Mason Street is at the crest of Nob Hill. If you’ve ever driven up Califonia street from downtown you know it is frighteningly steep and the ultimate test of your ability to drive a stickshift. You come to level ground only at the top of nob hill when you get to Mason. Interesting that you see Grace cathedral behind the street sign for Mason.

Looking back down California you see 555 California behind Mason, the brown 52 story symbol I’ve written about several times before.

Are masons behind all this? Was all of this intentional? I doubt it. It is synchronicity.

Synchronicity: the simultaneous occurrence of events that appear significantly related but have no discernible causal connection.

We went to Pier 33 looking for synchronicity and discovered that there is an interesting view looking back toward the city. You can see the Trance America Pyramid and Coitus tower poking up into the sky on either side of Alcatraz Landing.

Update: Justin Morgan posted the following photo on my Facebook wall depicting the view from the end of Pier 33 looking back at the city. Justin went to a party there on July 4th so the pyramid was lit up, it being aphelion (the day the Earth is farthest from the Sun) and all. The two illuminated towers appear to have the same height from this perspective.

Justin also discovered that Isis Imports is located at the end of Pier 33. Isis Imports, or “America’s Morgan Source,” has been an importer of Morgan Automobiles since 1968. It’s just a coincidence that Justin has the last name Morgan. Morgan Motor Company has been hand-building one car at a time since 1910. The logo is another synchronicity with the winged disc of Horus, son of Isis.

After so much phallic imagery I sought balance in the feminine dome of city hall, some 3333 meters away.

Recall that I drew a line from City Hall to Alactraz Landing and it passes right over 1111 California (see my Secrets of San Francisco post).

I foolishly thought I’d be able to enter City Hall and take pictures of the 5th largest dome in the world but the occupy SF movement had the police in lock-down mode. Here they are patrolling the civic center plaza, the same plaza where very close by the UN was chartered in 1948.

We decided to get out of there as the occupy protesters began marching down the street and the police started erecting barricades. That was enough synchronicity in the city for one day.

The two equilateral triangle buildings at the base of the pyramid are 44 stories each, making 88 floors of symbolic power. There are 88 constellations in the night sky and the road flanking the buildings on the right just happens to be called Constellation Boulevard.

I saw only two signs identifying what corporations are housed in the Century Plaza towers: JP Morgan and City National Bank; the latter’s logo reminds me of Jacob’s ladder.

Perhaps the towers are “the way up” to Orion and Sirius? The ancient Egyptians certainly believed that building copies of the stars on the earth would confer particular benefits.

“Whoever shall make a copy of the Duat, and shall know it upon earth, it shall act as a magical protector for him both in heaven and in earth, unfailingly, regularly, and eternally.” -The Book of What is in the Duat (circa 1400 BCE)

The long rectangular building above the top of the pyramid is the Creative Artists Agency. It has an inner void which a talented pilot might fly a helicopter through in some high budget movie.

The address of CAA is 2000 Avenue of the Stars. Constellations of stars are members of CAA:

“Creative Artists Agency is a talent and literary agency with offices in Los Angeles, Nashville, New York, Beijing, and London. CAA represents the most creative and successful artists working in music, film, television, theatre, sports, and games, and provides a range of strategic marketing services to corporate clients. The agency serves as the access point through which artists, consumers and global brands intersect to create, acquire and sell entertainment properties, and to enrich entertainment and brand experiences.” -Source

When I was standing there for my 15-minutes of observing fame, a drop dead gorgeous woman (I don’t have a clue who, but she looked Italian) got out of a brand new Porsche and walked past me into CAA.

The “eye” is really a semi-circular stone plaza in the middle of Century Park. It’s not really perceptible as an eye within a pyramid on the ground unless you think like an architect. You’d be able to see it plain as day from high up in the either of the twin towers which seem to resonate with Jachin and Boaz.

Put them together and you have the Star of David.

“How deeply Jewish is Hollywood? When the studio chiefs took out a full-page ad in the Los Angeles Times a few weeks ago to demand that the Screen Actors Guild settle its contract, the open letter was signed by: News Corp. President Peter Chernin (Jewish), Paramount Pictures Chairman Brad Grey (Jewish), Walt Disney Co. Chief Executive Robert Iger (Jewish), Sony Pictures Chairman Michael Lynton (surprise, Dutch Jew), Warner Bros. Chairman Barry Meyer (Jewish), CBS Corp. Chief Executive Leslie Moonves (so Jewish his great uncle was the first prime minister of Israel), MGM Chairman Harry Sloan (Jewish) and NBC Universal Chief Executive Jeff Zucker (mega-Jewish). If either of the Weinstein brothers had signed, this group would have not only the power to shut down all film production but to form a minyan with enough Fiji water on hand to fill a mikvah.” -Source

I took the above photo from the Annenburg Space for Photography which looks down on the plaza. The Space was closed the day I visited but the exhibit they were hosting was called Beauty CULTure, showing a number of incarnations of the goddess Isis, or Lilith if you prefer her Babylonian Talmud version.

We drove down Santa Monica Blvd and saw people filming a scene seemingly for the cult of beauty…

…on the way to Hollywood & Highland (H&H) and the Kodak Theatre which is the permanent home of the Academy Awards ceremony. Hmm, the sign is just one letter off from Isis.

I wanted to get a closer look at what I call the Ishtar Gate. It’s bigger than I imagined, but the real shocker was what is framed perfectly under the gate off in the distance.

It’s the Hollywood sign. This is especially interesing because of the Hulu commercial I referenced in the Magic of Holly Wood where Alec Baldwin enters a secret alien base underneath this sign. The developers must have oriented the plaza in reference to this iconic sign:

Update: Thank you Christopher Hunter Myers for your comment on my Synchronicity in the City post relating to your blog post which in turn references an article by Philip Coppens called “The Phallis of Osiris in Hollywood?” Both are utterly fascinating and well worth reading.

To summarize, the best selling author Linda Goodman who wrote Sun Signs (1968), believed that there was an underground chamber underneath the cross on Hollywood Hill literally containing the phallis of Osiris.

“There are some hints that Goodman might not have been the first interested in this piece of land. Interestingly, the summit of the [Hollywood] hill is the only piece of property in LA that is circular in shape!” -Source

Richard Cassaro asks the intriguing question, “Was Jesus the Second Coming of Egypt’s Christ?“

Goodman spent a great deal of her own money having scientific tests performed that apparently showed that there is indeed a secret underground chamber under the cross on Hollywood Hill.

Philip Coppens wrote, “Hollywood Hill was a private project of Linda Goodman, which largely died when she died in 1995.” I wish her investigation will someday be reopened.

The line connecting the Ishtar gates goes right between Hollywood Hill and Hollwood Bowl on the other side of the the 101 freeway.

Conductors use another type of holly wood in the form of batons to entrance their audiences at the summer concerts at Hollywood Bowl.

Don’t forget the original Ishtar gate is 6555 miles away from the Ishtar Gate of Hollywood & Highland along a line that perfectly traces the city wall of Babylon itself.

Bel-Air is just a stone’s throw from H&H. In my post on 666, I mentioned that in 1989 Ronald and Nancy Reagan retired to 666 St. Cloud Road in Bel-Air. Nancy had the street number changed to 668. Also Ronald Wilson Reagan had 6 letters in each of his 3 names, making 666 by concatenation.

Bel, signifying “lord” or “master”, is a title rather than a genuine name, applied to various gods in Babylonian religion. -Source

The axis coming from Babylon goes right through the Ishtar gate of H&H and continues across the street to Disney’s El Capitan theatre. El Capitan must therefore be Bel.

In fact the precise axis is centered on the star at the top of the marquee. That might explain why the ticket booth is at the extreme right edge of the building. You can see the Hollywood Masonic Temple next door, where Jimmy Kimmel Live is currently filmed.

Incidentally Michael Eisner has a star that just happens to be right in front of the Hollywood Masonic Temple. Eisner was the CEO of Disney for 21 years. Remember Disneyland’s Club 33?

Thank you to Boodabill who commented on the Magic of Holly Wood post that the structure on top of the El Capitan looks like an obelisk. There is a resemblance.

It was with all these things in mind that we left H&H and drove west down Santa Monica Blvd into the setting sun. There are signs along the way that identify Santa Monica Blvd as Historic Route 66 (most people in LA probably don’t know this).

Route 66 served as a major path for those who migrated west, especially during the Dust Bowl of the 1930s.

I didn’t realize it until arriving on site but the Santa Monica Pier is literally the terminus of Route 66. This sign is on the pier.

Route 66 was known as The Mother Road before the interstate highway system replaced it. Here is Blaze Starr, burlesque dancer from the 1940s, getting her kicks on route 66.

I wanted to go to the end of Santa Monica pier because of something I discovered last summer in Google Earth: the tip of the Santa Monica Pier has the exact same latitude as the Temple of Baalbek in Lebanon. The circle shown on the pier corresponds precisely to the latitude of the center of the hexagonal temple atop the platform of Baalbek.

Linguistically Bel is a cognate of Ba’al. Baalbek was the cult center of Ba’al worship going back nine thousand years. The megaliths of Baalbek are some of the greatest mysteries on the planet. How did the ancients move 1200 ton stones when we can’t do it today?

There is also a ferris wheel on the Santa Monica Pier. Another all-seeing-eye held up by compasses if you will, reminding me of the Millennium Wheel in London.

My friend Jan Thulstrup sent me a picture of a Highway 66 in northern Israel, which isn’t too far from Baalbek incidentally; Israel’s route 66 goes through Megiddo – better known under its Greek name of Armageddon.

There’s just something about 66 that we all subconsciously know spells trouble.
